Management of Projects o Planning  Goal setting  Defining the project  Team organization o Scheduling  Relate people, money and supplies to specific activities and activities to each other o Controlling  Monitor resources, costs, quality and budgets  Revise plans and shift resources to meet time and cost demands



Project Organization o Often temporary structure o Uses specialists from the entire company o Headed by the project manager  Coordinates activities  Monitors schedule and costs o A permanent structure called ‘matrix organization’

Ethical Issues o Project managers face many ethical issues on a daily basis o The Project Management Institute has established an ethical code to deal with problems such as:  Offers of gifts from contractors  The pressure to alter status reports to mask delays  False reports for charges of time and expenses  The pressure to compromise quality to meet schedules
