Project Characteristics o Single unit o Many related activities o Difficult production planning and inventory control o General-purpose equipment o High labor skills

Management of Projects o Planning Goal setting Defining the project Team organization o Scheduling Relate people, money and supplies to specific activities and activities to each other o Controlling Monitor resources, costs, quality and budgets Revise plans and shift resources to meet time and cost demands
Project Organization o Often temporary structure o Uses specialists from the entire company o Headed by the project manager Coordinates activities Monitors schedule and costs o A permanent structure called ‘matrix organization’
