The Cozy Coeehouse ‘Relax’ by definition means to become less tense or anxious. While choosing a relaxing place, most of us would think of a calm and peaceful site, but I must take a different path. A place that relaxes me is a coffeehouse. To me, it’s more than just a shop filled with people that sells coffee. It offers me a fantastic cup of coffee, a soothing ambiance with a break from reality, and some beautiful memories combined with all of the above. A great cup of coffee never fails to put me in a good mood. It is a cliche that coffee is just heat-pour-stair and voila! But in reality, it is the exact opposite. Preparing a quality cup of coffee requires practice and equipment that can be pretty expensive. Starting from quality roasted coffee beans, automatic drip coffee makers, a high-quality espresso machine, and so many more. The quality of coffee one gets in a professional setting is unparallel to any regular homemade instant coffee. Just the aroma alone can make a world of difference to coffee enthusiasts like me. Although the quality of coffee is a crucial aspect of a coffeehouse being a relaxing place, it is not the only one. Generally, one might not choose a noisy place filled with people as their relaxing place. For me, it is a bit different. It’s about the ambiance. The aroma of freshly roasted coffee beans combined with the white noise surrounding it just tones down the frenetic lifestyle for a while—a brief pause from the chaos and turmoil of this megacity. Like everybody else, I have days when everything is just a bit off and focusing on anything feels like the hardest thing to do. On days like those, a visit to my favorite coffeehouse gives me relief that no other place else can. I get a mind reboot that helps me regain my focus when returning to my workspace. A trick that works like a charm every time. Alongside the quality coffee and the mesmerizing ambiance, this place also brings a lot of memories. Sometimes good ones and sometimes not so good ones but significant ones indeed. A very significant one amongst those was when I met a guy who was thinking of starting a business of his own. He seemed like a pretty decent guy with a run-of-the-mill idea to start a restaurant. A restaurant that sells pizzas only, to be precise. He didn’t seem like much at first, but he began to stand out as our conversation went on. To this date, I still don’t know what was so noteworthy about him. Months went by after that, and one day, I came across a photo of the same guy in a news article. After going through the article, I realized that the guy I had a conversation with almost a year back owns my favorite pizza place in town-’Cheez.” A chain that has 6 branches all over Dhaka and makes the best pizzas in town. Maybe a good coffee or a relaxing ambiance is replaceable, but memories like this are clearly not. Take a moment and think, a perfectly made coffee to get you in the mood, the ambiance for the days when you are just not in the mood, and memories that you will be able to cherish forever. All that in one place seems like one hell of a place to me. If you haven’t been in one yet, you really should. This is an experience you wouldn’t want to miss....
