Interpretation of Findings Interpretation of findings is based on the client’s presentations and the Health care professional’s ablility to interpret it.
Potential Complications A patient may display an ECG rhythm on a monitor but have no pulse. This is known as pulseless electrical activity and should be treated as an emergency as the patient is in cardiac arrest.

Nursing Interventions (pre, intra, post) Good contact between the electrode and the skin is essential. Ensure that the skin is clean and dry Document indication for ECG, date and time monitoring started, lead configuration used, skin preparation, any rhythm or rate abnormaility, and any action taken as a result of the analysis. Client Education Teach patient why this type of monitoring has been ordered. Teach the patient the significance of the results
Nursing Interventions Heart rate alarms should be set to high and low rates. Patients should be monitored in a high observation area. ECG monitoring can cause anxiety for the patient or their relatives if alarms sound.
