Profile-dependent correspondence (P-DC) is when the defense attorney introduces a profile, which argues against the profile introduced by the prosecution, to say that the profile does not match his or her client. It is considered to be a more controversial path. On the contrary, Profilecrime correspondence, (P-CC) reports similarities between two or more crimes, which indicates that the same perpetrator has committed all reported crimes. This is often referred to as case linkage or a similarity analysis, as the similarities reported in the crimes would more than often refer to the same individual committing both crimes. Neither of the method is more reliable than the other, as neither of them are based on solid forensic evidence. A defender may try to find any little flaw in the method of P-DC, in which case, it may be biased or wishful. P-CC on the other hand is also not as reliable, as cases may have similarities but there may be several other factors or causes that might prove that the similarities are only being forced into the cases. For example- 2 murders may have the exact same MO and methodologies, but they may be caused by 2 different individuals, and one of the killers may have picked up the methodologies of the other....
