Discussion 5: Analytical Tools Tiffani Saylor Southern New Hampshire University IHP-430-H1325 Healthcare Quality Management
Identify two analytical tools used to process data collection. How are they processed through organizational information systems?
The two analytical tools that I chose to use in the process data collection is Chi-Square Analysis and Analysis of Means (ANOM)
Chi-Square Analysis is a tool used in quality management and is used to determine if there is a statistical relationship between two categorical variables. Chi-square can be used to find problems, potential causes, and if interventions are effective. The Chi-Square Analysis can also have categorical variables that uses one or more possible values, and these values are labels rather than numbers. A good example of something such as this is if a drug or treatment was given at the appropriate time and the outcomes if the patient lived, Improved, or got an infection this tool is good for find out outcomes and usually has two or more possibilities. In the Chi-Square process a PivotTable is used to determine outcomes splitting them into two variables to get their outcomes that will be needed to determine what will happen (Ross, 2014).
Analysis of means (ANOM) is used to find out if the individual or group performance, measured by the number of events, is different from the average. This determination is based on comparing individual or group means against a grand mean calculated for all individuals or groups. ANOM can be used to find potential problems and their causes. ANOM uses a C-Chart or Column Chart in order to find the problems and try to solve them by finding the appropriate cause (Ross, 2014). ANOM uses their tools to
process through organization information systems by using the whole system to be sure that there is enough information. This tool depends on the show of the effects of change performance.
