Discussion Form Unit 5 1. Do you believe that technology has indeed flattened the world in terms of providing economic opportunity? However, I personally do not believe that technology has flattened the world in terms of providing economy opportunity but on the other way, technology has aided or helped in creating globalization, socialization, minimizing the expenses or cost of production and that has made it very facile for the companies and organizations to expand, grow and further their businesses but minimizing the cost of production and making the communication easier within the people at large. I believe we all can testify that far before the technology took over; it was not easy to get valuable information from employment source and when we have new products in the market, with the availability of technology, we are able to get valuable information on the social media despites of where we are or located. At the same time we got the chance to learn online. Over the last 15 years let’s (two decades) we could see that there has been a betterment and amelioration of technology to countries that were developing and the developed ones too. 2. Do you believe digital media have changed social interaction and human connections? Yes I do agree with the fact that digital have changed social interaction and human connection because the people are no more limited in interacting but they also have the ability to communicate and share information with friends and families around the world at their own time because of the availability of social media. Compare to the past, the communication was not easy because the ways in which to get in touch with your loved ones was through writing letters and posting them or messenger. Now the social media have taken everything and we could see the way people are busy or engage on their phones. In fact we could see families, couples seated in one house and they will not even have a proper conversation because everyone is busy with his or her phone. 3. How do you think the economy in your country will change as it moves closer to a technology-driven service economy? I believe the economy in my country will change as it moves closer to a technology-driven service economy but that will depend on the people if they want to adapt to the new technology because in my country the Government is yet to accept many directions of technology because of corruption. But with the new technology, the people will not have the chances to pay in physical cash but through online where every transaction will be monitored and traced. The Government in my country is very slow to adapt many new patterns of technology because they want to promote corruption. With the physical payment, there will be more corruption and corruption will always delay any development.
