As the lesson for the third quarter unfolded, the discussion flowed from the definition of science to the application of social sciences in everyday life. Throughout the introduction, I have learned how greatly necessary it is to study this course. In defining the terms science, social sciences, and society in the discussion, I truthfully understood the scope of the study in the broadest sense. At first, I thought that social sciences only studied about the society of humans but it was made clear that “society” is a group of the same species which included animals. I grasped the idea that it also integrated how the societies of animals work due to their behavior. The main difference between humans and animals, as Sir Leo highlighted, was that humans have the main conflict in their society, and that is discrimination. In relation to this, social sciences are very important disciplines that needed to be studied because understanding the behaviors of each species at present comes the capability to think and create solutions that would solve the social issues since what we experience now is the result of what happened in the past. These solutions are the central importance of why social sciences, although often overlooked, are still needed. Moreover, even in the simplest ways, social sciences are applicable. An example is when a lover leaves another, we would come up with the questions “why” and “what happened”. History comes in as you look back on the struggles that happened in the past, then social sciences are concerned in terms of the behavior and interaction of the lovers at present, while humanities comes in because of the lessons learned that makes one understand himself better as a person. It is proven that social sciences are disciplines and ideas that are timeless as it is, inevitably, a part of life. 1 1...
