Dream Course Syllabus

10th Grade AP World History

Class Overview As Winston Churchill once said, “those that fail to learn from history are doomed to repeat it”. In this course we will dive deep into major moments in history that span over thousands of years.

Units Covered 1. The Rise & Fall of Greece/Rome 2. Ancient Egypt 3. The Age of Discovery 4. The Renaissance 5. The Age of Revolution(American & French) 6. World Wars 7. History Today

Materials Needed 1. 1-2 Notebooks 2. A binder or folder for assignments/handouts 3. 1 Red pen for peer review 4. Textbook and additional resources will be provided as needed by the school library or myself

Assignments/Classwork/Notes/Test Policy Make sure to keep up on your notes, there will be a weekly note check for understanding. This will benefit both you and me as I can spot where I need to go back over important ideas or concepts. If you turn in an assignment a week late you will receive no credit for that assignment. For each day that it is late 10% will be deducted from the overall grade. Any classwork that isn’t completed during the period will become homework. You will have three tries for each quiz or test taken in this class. I will only record the highest score on that quiz. For retakes you would need to schedule them with me either before or after class.

Cell Phone/Electronics Policy You can only use your phone to listen to music while you work on independent work in class. Please make sure your Chromebook is charged or has sufficient battery before you get to class.

Food Policy Snacks and water are allowed as long as the snack doesn’t contain nuts or will distract you from your work.

Respect Respect is a two party system. Be respectful of one another’s personal space and belongings. Be respectful of each other as well. You may not like each other outside of the classroom but in order to work together there has to be some mutual respect. Team effort is required in this class. There will be quite a few group projects throughout this class.

Plagiarism Plagiarism of any form will not be tolerated. Please refer to the school’s policy regarding plagiarism.

Parent/Guardian Signature Form There will be some materials covered in this class that could contain triggering subjects for some viewer; i.e. war, slavery, cruelty/violence. As with learning history, there will be moments where one is furious with what the people of the world have done to one another. By providing your signature below you are agreeing to allow your child to read or watch supplemental material used in this class that could contain triggering moments. If you wish to not have your child participate in those parts of the unit, also sign below and I will make sure they have another place to be and an alternative assignment that is still related to the overall unit. Topics that could potentially be triggering are racism, the holocaust, war, and others.
