Dynamometry -
Measurement of system dynamics typically focused on force/torque and velocity to yield power measures. Variety of dynamometry instruments used in Biomechanics. Seated dynamometer (i.e. Biodex), force plates (piezo- and strain-based), implanted transducers.
Force plates -
Piezoelectric: Large range, highly linear, very low hysteresis, very good frequency response, but they exhibit drift and are expensive (>$50K).

Strain gauge-based: Large range, good linearity, low hysteresis, no drift, reasonable cost (...
