For the ELL students I will read over the words and pictures all while pointing to them. 

Students with special needs: For students with special needs I will work with them in a small group setting to complete the worksheet.

Students with gifted abilities: For students with gifted abilities, I will have them complete a more difficult rhyming worksheet. Once the sheet is complete they too may get a book from our rhyming book collection, scan for words that rhyme and write them down on a white board to share when everyone is done.

Early finishers (those students who finish early and may need additional resources/support): For early finishers I will have them get a book from our rhyming book collection, scan for words that rhyme and write them down on a white board to share when everyone is done. Multiple Means of Engagement

I will use a rhyming Bingo game where students will need to find the word/picture that rhymes with the word I call out (Free Printable Rhyming Bingo Game For Kindergarten. Simply Kinder, 2020).

English language learners (ELL): For the ELL I will have pictures on the bingo cards to represent the words.

Students with special needs: For students with special needs I will stand closely by them and assist them in finding the word that rhymes with the word that was called out.

Students with gifted abilities: For students with gifted abilities

Early finishers (those students who finish early and may need additional resources/support): Early finishers will continue playing the Bingo game and work to cover the whole board if possible.

Multiple Means of Expression Students will go on a rhyming sight words hunt through out the classroom. They will take the words they find back to their seats and make three pairs of rhyming words. Students will be taking part in assessment throughout the lesson. Such as giving examples of rhyming words, how well they complete the worksheet, and if they can play the Bingo game. From these assessments throughout the lesson I will then be able to determine what I need to re-teach or redirect the learning.

English language learners (ELL): For ELL students I will be sure each rhyming sight word card has a picture/visual on them so students can also determine what the word is.

Students with special needs: For students with special needs I will “hunt” with them and read the words to them if they need.

Students with gifted abilities: For students with gifted abilities I will hide words on a certain color for them to find and they will be more difficult.

This lesson will provide direct instruction because it will start off with a lecture and then follow with demonstrations on how to complete different tasks all throughout. Specific examples will be given to the students as we move through the lesson. I am covering an indirect instruction learning opportunity by allow the children to explore the classroom looking for rhyming sight words. All sight words will rhyme so the fear of giving an incorrect answer is removed, but the children will not know this prior to the hunt. When the children are asked to give examples of rhyming words, they will be encouraged to collaborate with their classmates to find words together, which is considered collaborative learning. Playing Bingo is a hands-on learning activity which is an example of experiential learning. Students will explore different Dr. Suess searching for words that rhyme on their

LESSON PLAN TEMPLATE own, meaning the are studying this lesson topic independently. Starting off with the anticipatory set that I did I am covering interactive instruction because I am using a thinkpair-share method. The children are thinking about what rhyming is, pair words they hear in the story together that rhyme, and them sharing examples.

I collaborated with my mentor on this lesson plan asking for advice and input. We walked through all of the field experience I completed and pulled knowledge to develop this lesson plan to meet all the needs of the students. This lesson was a general lesson plan keeping in mind all the confidentiality of the students. When I decided I wanted to become a teacher I made a promise to myself that I will my all into my classroom and my students, that included my lessons. I want to be sure my lessons meet the needs of all of my students so I know changes will be made often but one thing I want to remain the same is keep the lessons fun and engaging. I want all of my students to learn but in a care free and fun way. I do not want them to be bored and dread coming to school. This lesson took time, effort, thought, and energy to complete. Assessments will be made prior too called preassessments so I can gather the understanding if my students are ready to start learning about rhyming. Assessment will be made all through out this lesson, formative and summative. With so much going on with this lesson the children will not be bored be there is a variety of activities but also not too overwhelming for children who have a hard time transitioning. My mentor worked with me on this assignment although it was not a requirement of hers, she thought I did a wonderful job and truly believes this lesson could play out in a classroom. I am proud of this lesson and the work that was put into it.
