1.4

Will Honours students qualify for the ECP? Does the university inform students that they qualify for the ECP programme? Where do students apply or check if they qualify for the ECP programme?

1.5

Will more students be added to the ECP site, or is this process now complete?

1.6

If a student believes he/she could qualify for the ECP programme and have not received a letter, where can he/she ask for assistance? Can a student opt out and reenter the normal semester programme?

1.7

Year modules are excluded from the ECP. Honours students who only have semester modules outstanding may qualify if they meet the ECP criteria. Yes. Each student that has been (or will be) identified, receives a letter. Students are then linked to the relevant ECP sites. Students cannot apply and will be included automatically. The above letter contains the criteria. All qualifying students will receive the letter in their myLife email account. They will also be linked to the ECP sites of all modules they are registered for. More students have been identified on 30 April 2021 due to late registrations. Such students have been contacted and linked to the ECP sites on 30 April. Contact the Call Centre at 0800 00 1870 or your College before 7 May 2021. Contact information is on Unisa website. The university will check to confirm and will then inform the student by 10 May 2021. Students are welcome to request removal from the ECP programme at [email protected]. Please use above contact information or inform one of your lecturers. This must be done before 7 May 2021. Students that request to opt-out, will be removed from the programme (not just selected modules) on 10 May 2021. This will be a final process and students will not have the option to return to the ECP and will also not be admitted to the June examination.

2.2

What content will be on the ECP site? Why am I not seeing ECP site under mymodules tab?

3 3.1

ASSIGNMENTS Which assignments should ECP students do?

3.2

Assignment dates

ECP students must submit their assignments on the stipulated due dates communicated on the ECP module site.

3.3

How do I submit my ECP assignments?

3.4

What will happen to my fully online assignments if I have submitted the assignment applicable to the “main” module group?

3.5

How will the ECP student’s year mark be calculated?

Written/File upload assignments: Student will be able to upload assignments on the Assessment Tab on the ECP site for written assignments. MCQ assignments: Must be submitted on myUnisa as usual, except if the lecturer requires submission in the ECP site. Fully online assessments: Follow instruction provided by the lecturer Relevant instructions will be communicated on the ECP site. There will be a concession on assignment 1 since the ECP programme only commenced in April. Results for fully online assessments (i.e. submitted on the Online Assessment tool) will be accepted from both the main and ECP group sites and the highest mark awarded. Subsequent assignments in the Online Assessment tool should be submitted strictly according to the lecturer guidelines in the ECP site. The ECP student’s year mark is calculated in the same manner as explained in the module TL101. ECP exam admission will be based on the same admission criteria or year mark as explained in TL101.

3.6

My module uses continuous or portfolio assessment with no final summative exam. How does it affect the ECP exam?

ECP students must submit the assignments as per the instruction from the lecturer and communicated on the ECP module site.

Such modules will follow the same process but with earlier submission dates as communicated on the ECP module site. In such a module, the final mark is determined by a series of submissions and there is no final examination and also no supplementary examination. If an ECP student registered for such a module fails to achieve a 50% final mark after completing all the ECP assignments, they fail. There is no resubmission of assignments to improve the year mark, nor will there be a supplementary opportunity in October for such modules. Students that failed such a module will need to reregister for the module in 2022. Please be aware of this risk and if you are apprehensive about the short learning period in the ECP programme, rather request to opt out of the programme and revert to the “normal” module programme.
