DATE: 12 OCTOBER 2020 LESSON: ENGLISH (1) NOTES ON CONTENT WHAT IS AMBIGUITY? An ambiguous statement has more than one meaning. Example: Do you like wearing cool clothes? Cool can mean fashionable and trendy. Cool can also mean clothing that is not insulated. INTERVIEW WRITING AND SKILLS: Interview- a meeting between people face to face to gather information. Person who asks questions: interviewer. Person who answers questions: interviewee. 1. Find out some facts about the person. Decide which questions you would like to ask. Find out the answers. 2. Plan your interview. Phrase your questions so that the interviewee can be descriptive. 3. Use a suitable way of talking which is known as register. Use a formal register. 4. How will you ask questions? Will you be kind? Will you yell? WRITING A REPORT Report is written to provide for an event. You tell one what has happened. A report is written in indirect speech. You make use of ‘she said that’ etc. A report needs a title, introduction, body paragraphs and conclusion. UNDERSTATEMENT Makes an achievement sound less important. Reporters used understatements to get information. ADVERBS OF DURATION These tell us for how long an action continues: I am going to play X-Box forever. I am living in Dubai permanently. Spelling list words- provide the definition and write it out 2 times each....
