Essay Outline Topic 3: Consider the situation of modern Greece and evaluate the change that globalization is responsible for at least a significant part of their problems and distress. In your analysis be sure to explain (1) the mechanisms that might link globalization to economic, political and social conditions in Greece, with specific and concrete examples and (2) to lay out both the arguments and evidence for this claim and the arguments and evidence against the claim. Introduction: Greece a nation part of European Union, located in southern coast have found themselves in a major turn. This turn of events has created a multitude of problems leaving Greece with one of the highest debt percentages of GDP in the nation. This debit has led continual borrowing at high interest rates to only future deepen Greece’s pit of economic despair. Expanding away from economics there have been a variety of other contributors to the state Greece finds themselves in. When these ideas are examined it is evident that globalization plays a significant role in the events creating the situation in Greece. Paragraph One:  Globalization Explanation as business expand they must fine ways to increase profit and in most influences this least to a global expansion Paragraph Two:  Globalization’s link to Economic conditions in Greece o Movement of industries to cheaper nations leading to less of a national job market  Certain industries cannot be moved and have maintained strength such as the tourism industry.  Some productions have remains constant and a boost for the nations income such as wine exports and the production of Ouzo which can only be made in Greece. Paragraph Three:  Globalization’s link to Political conditions in Greece o Lack of national Jobs has lead to a decrease in tax revenue o A decrease in tax revenue creates difficulties in maintaining Greece o Greece has had to cut Social security and pensions leading to sever political push back o Paragraph Four:  Globalization’s link to Social conditions in Greece

 

With a variety of structural adjustment programs Greece citizens have taken to the streets in protest to the adjustments leaving them without government financial aid Poverty has become a new normative with homeless people and services for them being seen on a regular basis

Conclusion  Discussion of how Greece has a long way to go and how individuals can contribute to stopping globalization with micro-movements...
