Exploratory Test Charter

Online Auction Web-portal Overview The purpose of the test session is to explore the registration process of the online auction web-portal using two browsers to determine if it is suitable for a defect management system. The web-portal is a platform for the registered users to trade things and auction or bid the items, in addition the also get latest news, or communicate with other users and get acknowledged by new offers from the website. The portal is based by taking ideas from existing auction websites like eBay, Onsale etc. The main focus is in the registration process as it is the root of all the other functions in the website .The users are supposed to do a pre-registration to confirm and verify their actual email, and address to avoid fraud . After the registration users can post items for auction and put an end-period for the particular and also bid for items in the website.

Tester Duration This test session last for 75minutes. The test session is a single session for doing all the test for the website. The preparation time, small breaks and the completion of bugs report are not included in the total duration of 75 minutes.

Task breakdown The test session lasts for 75 minutes. In that timeframe the tester needs to identify any kind of bugs in the systems and other functional or non-functional errors or data errors in the system. The time period is split between the two browsers.

Set up For the setup, there are steps below for the exploration of the system what needs to be included and arranged before the testing.     

Make sure you have compatible device like- mobile phones, laptops etc. For opening the website. Make sure you have access to the website. Make sure you have high speed internet connection that is interrupted as the session is single sitting session. Make sure you have good hardware of the device that you are working on – like a good ram which can hold more memory, a clear display screen etc. A good screen grab app that you are familiar with. 1

All necessary items like pen, pencil or note books if needed to note down important sittings. A good location where no one can disturb. Make sure you have a software to record bugs –notepad, word, excel etc.
