Classification: Anti-anemic Dosage Recommendations: 325 mg Route Recommendations: PO Uses: Prevention and treatment of iron deficiency anemia Adverse Effects: CNS toxicity, acidosis, coma and death; GI upset, anorexia, nausea, vomiting, constipation, diarrhea, dark stools, temporary staining of teeth (liquid preparations). Contraindications/Cautions: contraindicated with allergy to any ingredient, sulfate allergy, hemochromatosis, and hemolytic anemia. Use cautiously with normal iron balance, peptic ulcer, regional enteritis, and ulcerative colitis.
