Office of the Principal

√ The office of the principal or the Dean’s office is available. It is located at the second floor building along with other offices like Registrar’s and the Accounting’s office. The actual room is not spacious but still organized well, properly ventilated and the staff are accommodating and helpful/

Basically, the office of the principal is where the head of the school works and accomplishes his/her roles and responsibilities. This means that everything that the principal/dean do, from planning, organizing and determining educational plans to implementing programs and activities, take place in that office. This also means that the presence of this office greatly contributes to learning and development of students through guiding the established curriculum attain its educational goals such as providing what the students need to know or need to posses.

Library

√ Although, it will take time to find where the library is, still, what matters is its availability and accessibility of variety of resources. It offers quality of materials from textbooks, teacher’s resource material, journals, published undergraduate thesis, etc. that are helpful for students research references. It is also spacious, big enough to accommodate more students and offers other services such as free WIFI and desktop/computer access.

With its comfortable space for learning, students are able to maximize the resources that the school library offers. It gives them opportunity to learn independently through seeking and researching for the information they need. It addition, it provides of resource materials that are beneficial not just for students but for teachers too.

Description

Will it contribute to the student’s learning and development? Why?

Counselling Room

√ The counseling room is located in the Guidance, Testing and Admission Office. To secure confidentiality, the inside of the office has a cubicle to protect the privacy of the individuals being counseled. The place is comfortable and well -ventilated too.

A counseling room contributes to the learning and development of students in terms of helping them with their current concerns regarding their academic performance and personal problems that affect their academic status in school. The counselor motivates the students to stay optimistic amidst the challenges they encounter.

Canteen/Cafeteria

√ The canteen is available although it doesn’t have a wide space. Less students are only accommodated but the place is clean and organized.

Students are able to learn better if they have the right amount of nutrients and energy in their body. The canteen provides healthy foods for the students which aid them to improve their learning performance.

Medical Clinic

√ The medical clinic should be the most easily accessible for students and teachers. In this school, it is conveniently located near the entrance gate. The room provides primary care through the availability of first aid kits, medicines, and other health equipment that may help students, teachers an other personnel for immediate treatment whenever an emergency occurs.

Despite the fact that the medical clinic does not directly contribute to learning and development of students, it still provide urgent service to those who need it and also give students important health reminders that may help their learning and development.

Audio Visual/ Learning Resource Center

√ The audio visual room has a wide space for mass viewing or presentation that may be used for any activity that requires presentation and good sound system.

The AV Room/Learning center gives greater experience for learning. Because of its enhanced audio visual resources, learning for students gives a greater experience and most likely, the information from a good presentation will retain long from their memory.

Science Laboratory

√ The Science Laboratory is a facility that provides first-hand science experiences. It is not that accessible for all students because of its location, but still offers significant resources in learning science.

The Science Lab provides a comfortable space for students to learn various science related activities. With science lab, students are able to perform activities and apply the knowledge they have gained while enhancing their skills and knowledge.

Gymnasium

√ The gymnasium is not that big enough to accommodate a class with 50 students, but it has complete physical fitness equipment that can be used by students. The place is clean and organized.

The gymnasium is beneficial for learning sports and indoor activities which are part for Physical Education subject. With this facility, learning P.E is more easier and experiential for students.

Auditorium

The auditorium makes viewing of presentations and watching performances more convenient. Using auditorium in learning activities is entertaining and impactful for students.

The school does not have auditorium but they do have a quadrangle where most activities are being held. It has the widest space to accommodate all students and teachers at once.

The outdoor garden is not available in Outdoor garden is where the students are able this school. to show their love for plants, vegetables, trees and etc. It is important because it helps students to develop empathy and responsibility of being a human while taking care the environment. This is also a place where they can play and have fun with their peers.

Home Economics Room

Home Economics Room is not availa- In Technology, Livelihood Education Subjects, ble. a Home Economics Room is important. This is where all the activities in Home Economics takes place. This is important to help student develop the skills they need while applying their prior knowledge.

Industrial Workshop Area

How- A PTA office is important because this is where ever, parents-teachers meetings are teachers and parents collaborate towards most likely being held in a classroom. achieving a goal. Classroom Observation Report

1. Describe the community or neighborhood where the school is found.

Observing the community where the school is found, I feel the sense of peace and harmony among its people living there. The neighbourhood seems secured and safe as it is being monitored by the local government unit or the barangay police. There is also an access to store, bakery and computer shop that may provide the needs of the students and teachers. The school is compose of old and new buildings, a wide space for interactive activities, accessible facilities, offices, and services. The color that dominates the campus are maroon, white and green. Although not all buildings are good as new, they are still functional and useful for students learning activities.

2. Describe the school campus. What colours do you see? What is the condition of the buildings?

3. Pass by the office is. What impression do you have of these offices? 4. Walk through the school halls, the library, the cafeteria. Look around and found out the other facilities that the school has.

The offices are structured and organized. They are located conveniently so people would find them easily. They have bulletin board displayed outside their offices to keep people informed of the latest announcements and memos. The school halls are clean and quiet. There are students in the library, silently reading their books, some are working on their laptops and the librarian is busy organizing some books. The cafeteria looks small and has a few chairs and tables but can accommodate students well. There is a big quadrangle at the center of the campus. The school has a social hall, a computer laboratory, science lab, gymnasium and clinic which are all accessible. The classrooms are clean, organized and well-ventilated. There are signage and proper labels so that offices can be easily found.

1. Look at the walls of the classroom. What are posted on the walls? What heroes, religious figures, lessons, visual aids announcements do you see posted? Each classroom displays various information in their walls. All of them has the vision, mission, goals and objectives of the school which are put in a big frame. There is a picture of the Philippine president and the classroom prayer in the center of the wall. Other visual aids posted include the names of cleaners, important reminders, etc. 2. Examine how the pieces of furniture are arranged. Where is the teachers table located? How are the tables and chairs desk arrange? Some classrooms have tables for teachers but some do not have. Teacher’s table is usually located center in front of the blackboard. The chairs/desks are arranged 5 in each side (left & right) and until 3 -4 rows. There is a 1 meter space in the center aisle and students enter in the backdoor only. 3. What learning materials or equipment are present? There are incomplete materials present in each room while each of them has a blackboard/whiteboard and chalk. There are no other materials like books unless the teacher will require the students to borrow books from the library or bring a learning resource material from home. Some equipment like projector or laptop is provided by the teacher or the students.

4. Observe the students how many are occupying one room? Each room is being occupied by a minimum of 30 students but not more that 45 students. They are seated according to a seat plan created by the teacher or just the usual alphabetical seating arrangement. Students have who have vision problems are usually encouraged to sit in the front as well as those who struggle hearing from a distance.

5. Is the room well-lit and well ventilated? Each room is well lit, clean and ventilated. Windows are left open in the morning to let in the fresh air but students close them after the class. The room has 2 ceiling fan and 4 fluorescent lights but not all are functioning well. Overall, each classroom provides a comfortable space for students to learn well.

Wall Displays

There are numerous wall displays placed in front and back of the wall which are all good. Each of them varies in size but the ones that are bigger are the ones in the front. They are arranged based on the level of importance. (e.g. the picture of the president is placed higher than the VMGO of the school)

Teacher’s Table

The teacher’s table is about 60x90 in size with drawers that are not all functional. It is placed in center in front facing the students. It looks used but still functional.

Learner’s Desks

The learner’s desks are durable plastic in colors gray and maroon. There are about 40 desks that are arranged 5 each side and 4 rows. The spaces between the chairs is about half a meter, which is enough for the students to feel comfortable sitting and writing.

Blackboard

The blackboard is almost as long as the width of the wall. There is a movable whiteboard attached to it which is rarely used by teachers. There are chalks and eraser placed in center. The board is good as new because they don't use it frequently.

Learning Materials/Visual Aids

There are no available books and other learning materials, but there are visual aids displayed in its walls. Although, these visual aids are not frequently used in the class, its still add color to the simplicity of the wall while providing information for students.

Write your observation report here. Name of this school observed: CNSC College of Education Laboratory High School Location of the school: J. Lukban Ext., Daet, Camarines Norte Date of visit: August 23, 2021 MY OBSERVATIONS The following are my observations during my visitation at CNSC College of Education Laboratory High School last August 23, 2021: 

The school is easily located. There is a big label of the name of the school, although it was the previous name of the school.



There are stores in front, a bakery and a computer shop nearby.



The fences are strong and helps the school secured.



The security guard is accommodating.



The clinic and the guidance office is easily located.



The library is a bit far but it can be easily located.



There is a big quadrangle with, a small stage in the lower center and a flag pole in the upper center.



The classroom are clean, although its old and some of the grills already have rusts.



The comfort rooms are accessible. However not all toilets are functional.



The computer laboratory, science laboratory and auditorium are available for students.



There is a small nipa hut located near the social hall. It is where most students take their recess.



The canteen is small but clean and organized.



Other offices such as the dean’s office, registrar and etc. are well ventilated but not conveniently located.



The hallways are clean and tiled.



Overall, the school is a safe space for learning. The facilities are accessible and materials/equipement are functional. The school is conducive to learning– which matters the most.
