Lesson 10: Your Super Future Complete ALL 3 parts. Part 1, 20 points: Use this link to research a college. Submit what you have learned to your teacher about your college research in a short paper (2-3 paragraphs), you can give a speech (2-3 minutes), or you can create a presentation using a Web 2.0 tool. https://collegescorecard.ed.gov/school/?132903-University-of-Central-Florida Be sure to include the following information in your own words or cite your sources: UCF (University of Central Florida) Location of school - Orlando, Florida Cost- 13k average Student graduation rate - 75% Programs of study that interest you- Psychology Student life (clubs, sports, etc)- clubs, concerts, activities Surrounding areas of interest - Mall of Millenia, Theme parks, and places to eat

For college, I want to go to UCF. The University of Central Florida is located in Orlando and is a college town. The cost to get into is an average of 13 thousand dollars. They however do grant scholarships which makes funds easier. The student graduation rate is 75% and has an acceptance rate of 44%. A program that they offer that I’m interested in is psychology. They have a whole department for psychology and I’ve learned that it’s one of the best. The student life around the college is active all the time. They have clubs, concerts, and activities weekly. Some surrounding areas that spike interest for me to go to that school is the mall of Millenia, theme parks, and good places to ear.

Part 2, 15 points: Review Super ELL Techniques as you will use them for parts 2 and 3. For example: turbo button, instant/lasting, growth circles of CAN DO and NOT YET, asking Strong Questions, Inner/Outer Code, MAD Goals and YOU & ME circles.

Using what you have learned in this course, you are now going to help out a student named Rafael. Rafael has problems in four areas. Physical: He’s gained 40 pounds over the last year. Emotional: His girlfriend broke up with him and he misses her. Intellectual: He wants to get A’s and B’s, but is getting D’s. Social: His girlfriend was his only friend, and he is lonely now. What 3 Super ELL techniques can Rafael use to improve his life? Describe the techniques.

Answer: He can hit the turbo button, realize everything will be ok and that there is always a solution so keep a positive mindset, and that things will happen no matter what. Do you think his four problems are connected? Answer: Yes because he’s stuck in the same mindset and isn’t leaving room to improve. Write three sentences giving your advice for Rafael. Answer: Rafael needs to take control of his life because he’s the only person that can control how he acts. If he wants to change an outcome then he has to put in the effort and understand things happen for a reason. He needs to stop being emotional about the situation and take charge. He needs to be looking at the situation more logically like the growth mindset.

Part 3, 15 points: Ask a friend or family member to complete the Instant/Lasting Zone chart, focusing on their use of electronics. After reviewing their completed chart, write 1-2 complete sentences about your findings. For example, how are they using TV, computers, or phones? Do they watch too much TV? Are they not using their computer enough to do real work? Answer: My mom spends a lot of time on social media and watching t.v..

In 3-4 complete sentences, offer feedback on how they can better use electronics in their lives. Be sure to let them know that it is okay to spend some time playing video games, texting, or checking social media, but your feedback and evaluation might lead them to change how they are currently using their time. Answer: I have noticed my mom has been in both lasting and instant zone. I told her it’s ok to be in the instant zone but we as people should try to aim to be in the lasting zone. That means being on less social media and focus more on actions that can improve yourself in the future other than an instant stratification.
