GEB4941 RESUME CRITIQUE CHECKLIST CAP identified the job/internship/industry/position for which the resume is intended CAP provided an overview of the critique for student (purpose, formatting, content, follow-up) Student receiving critique has paper/pen out and is ready to take notes CAP provided student with completed critique sheet, additional resume resources, and followup appointment if necessary

Name: Students name at top in font size 16 to 20 Length: One page Font Size: Between 10 and 12 Font Color: Black (double check hyperlinks) Employment Dates: Include month/season and year, aligned right No graphics (pictures, diagrams, etc.) Consistency Applied: All headers, job titles, company names, dates, and bullets throughout the document have identical spacing, bolding, italicizing, underlining, and indenting Grammar: Proper spelling, third person tense, concise, STAR method sentences) Order of Headings from Top: Education, Experience, (Leadership and) Involvement, Additional Data/Honors/Awards, etc. Equal Margins: No smaller than .5 inches on all sides Numbers: < 10 spelled out (excludes graduation dates, employment lengths, and G.P.A.) Single Word Lines: No bullets in which only one word goes on to next line (this wastes space)

Resume Header: Name, Address, Telephone, Professional Email, and LinkedIn (if up-to-date) No Objective Statement (Rare exceptions will occur, mostly with Master’s students) Education: Degree title, UF, Gainesville, major(s)/minor(s), G.P.A. (if 3.4 or higher), anticipated graduation date, relevant scholarship or involvement experience Experience Section: Short paragraph highlights accomplishments OR explains the company/organization Bullets use STAR Method and contain: 1. Action Verbs: A variety of verbs used, didn't repeat same verb(s) throughout resume 2. Transferable Skills: Evident, clear, and prominent within bullets 3. Parallel Construction Across All Sentences: Situation > Action > Task > Result 4. Bullets are specific and accomplishments/results driven, i.e., the resume does not read like a job description 5. Quantify and qualify accomplishments and results wherever applicable/possible 6. Embedded References: "Ranked in top 5% of interns based on X and Y” Relevancy: Word choice/skills reflect jargon and skills used on job description/target industry Honors and Awards: Describe selectivity and/or merit e.g. “Awarded to only 10 students of the 1000 who applied”
