Gender-based Interpersonal Cybercrime

With the introduction of various social media and dating programs, the internet has undergone a new revolution, and cybercrime has taken on a new dimension. People frequently underestimate how serious gender-biased cybercrime may be in today's world. People who complain about the same thing are frequently advised to have a thicker skin. Because these crimes are frequently committed against women, gender-based crimes are described as "crimes directed against a woman because she is a woman or that disproportionately affect women."

On November 19, 2021, the University of Rizal System held a webinar in collaboration with UNIGAD entitled as Gender-Based Interpersonal Cybercrime with the great resource speaker Prof. Jansen A. San Juan. The webinar talks about Cyberbullying, anti photo and video Voyeurism Act, Gender-based sexual harassment Under RA 11313, and other laws pertaining to interpersonal cybercrimes.

So firstly he defined cuberbullying as the use of technology or any electronic means. The term shall also include any conduct resulting to harassment, intimidation, or humiliation, through the use of other forms of technology, such as, but not limited to texting, email, instant messaging, chatting, internet, social media, online games, or other platforms or formats.

Different types of cyberbullying exist. It doesn't always imply breaking into people's accounts or impersonating them. It also includes making negative remarks about others or circulating rumors in order to undermine them. Because everyone is so engaged in social media, anyone with access to it can easily abuse it. To put it another way, cyberbullying is now very common. Acts of manipulation, harassment, and harassment are all included. These aggressive activities are extremely harmful and have the potential to harm anyone. They occur on social media, public forums, and other platforms that provide online information. A cyberbully does not have to be an unknown individual; it could be someone you know.

The next topic he discussed was the anti-photo and video voyeurism act, which states that its major goal is to punish activities that degrade a person's honor, integrity, and dignity. Recording any conversation without the consent of the person speaking is illegal in any situation. Gender-based sexual harassment Under RA 11313 which is the use of information and communications technology in terrorizing and intimidating victims through physical, psychological, and emotional threats, unwanted sexual misogynistic, transphobic, homophobic and sexist remarks and comments online whether publicly or through direct and private messages, and etc. This republic act is significant because it represents the State's policy of respecting the dignity of every human being and ensuring complete respect for human rights. It is also the State's policy to recognize women's

contributions to nation-building and to guarantee women and men's fundamental equality before the law.

The Last topic was about other laws pertaining to interpersonal cybercrimes such as cyberlibel wherein these acts are more severely punished when done online in addition to the civil action for damages which may be brought by the offended party. (RA 10175). Slander may also be applicable to one who, in heat of anger, utters statements that are highly defamatory in character. (Art. 358, RPC) and Intriguing Against Honour may also find applicability when the principal purpose is to blemish the honour or reputation of a person. (Art. 364, RPC). Cyber laws have been put in place on the internet to keep people safe. This provides access, privacy, freedom of expression, and jurisdiction to internet users. Cyber laws are significant since they encompass all internet-related activity.

People have the right to access the Internet, share information, and connect with other people without fear of abuse or violence. However, the reality is that such abuse and violence do exist in the internet world. People from all over the world can (and have) sexually exploited, sexually abused, bullied, harassed, cyberstalked, and extorted children and adults online either male or female. These cybercrimes cost victims a lot of money, and the negative consequences of these cybercrimes can be irreversible....
