Description

Globalization and the Coca-Cola Company “Coca-Cola is one of the most well-known brands in the world, operating in over 200 countries, with over 84,000 suppliers and still they are expanding their industry globally” (Case study, n.d) Just like so many other big and renowned companies, Coca-Cola is one company that has a repute globally. We are going look at one challenge and one solution trend that is applicable to the CocaCola’s situation today. One of Coca-Cola’s challenge trends that has been seen for the past two to three years, is that of “Faster pace of innovation”. Cans of Coca-Cola have been personalized to suit a particular individuals in certain parts, or better four corners of the world. For example, well known and popular names of people of a certain country are personalised on the Coke cans, which was a great leap where their marketing strategy was concerned. Another eye catching innovation was when Coca-Cola created product differentiation, such as having different kind of beverages in versatile packaging options, which allowed Coca-Cola to customize the product for their vast market, like “Coca-Cola has invested significant time and money into understanding different marketing trends and consumer segments based on lifestyle, age, and income in order to accurately develop and market its products.”(Case study, n.d), that is producing power drinks for younger consumers, and also being health conscious, in getting diet cokes for older consumers. One of the Coke Solution Trends is “becoming more connected” One of the Coke Solution Trends is “becoming more connected” Technological advances has led Coca-Cola to rapidly spread globally. Transporting products have become more faster and efficient, cutting down on costs, means of communication, computer advanced technologies made it easier for Coca-Cola to expand and capitalize their products in an era of advancing technology in rapidly expanding markets, for instance areas that were not easy for their product to reach was made easy through transportation improvements. Creation of websites and social media platforms, where they can easily connect with consumers, and sometimes it is good to keep up with the trend, as the world’s most successful beverage in the world, If coke also counts solely on internet chat bots to resolve issues they will loose some kind of focus and credibility, Coca-Cola had always had focus and they are customer satisfaction conscious. From the five building blocks of a learning organization, one of the five building blocks Coke should focus on is “Systematic problem solving” becoming more connected is concerned where “The company must have a consistent method for solving problems, using data and statistical tools rather than assumptions” (Carpenter, Bauer & Erdogan. 2010, P. 137). Advanced technology is in the rise, increased amount creating more products rises, with technology making production faster and easier meeting their customer requirements in a more efficient way.
