Greek mythology contributions to our Lives today Greek mythology has influenced our current lives in many ways. Many everyday things that you have seen are inspired by Greek mythology. Many thing such as brand names such as nike, events such as the olympics, and even logos have been inspired by Greek mythology. To begin with, Greek mythology has contributed to our current lives in many ways. One way is the popular brands we see everyday! According to “Greek myths: A continuing influence on modern life.” many local brands such as Nike is named after Nike who is the goddess of victory, amazon is named after the group of strong warriors who are women who were trained for combat and learned archery and they were known as the amazons, and even the jewelry brand Pandora is named after the first mortal in Greek mythology who is Pandora. Many names of people are also inspired too such as Achilles who was a hero in the trojan war and troy which was the city where the trojan war take place. The Olympics was made to honor Zeus who is the king of the gods. Additionally, Who are the Greek gods? According to “12 Main Greek Gods of Greek Mythology”, There are 12 main gods in Olympus who are the 12 Olympians but there are 14 main gods. The 12 Olympians are Zeus, king of the gods and he was the god of thunder and the skies, Hera is the goddess of

marriage, Ares who is the god of war, Athena the god of wisdom, Poseidon who is the god of the seas, Apollo who is the god of the sun, music and medicine, artemis who is the goddess of the moon, hunting, and wild nature, Demeter who is the goddess of harvest, Aphrodite who is the goddess of beauty, Hermes who is the god of trade wealth and travel, Dionysus who is the god of wine, merriment, and theatre Hephaestus who is the god of blacksmithing, metalworking, and craftsmanship and lastly Hestia who is the goddess of the hearth. Now you do also have hades who Is the king of the underworld and is the god of death and riches. He is not necessarily considered an Olympian because he does not reside in Olympus he resides in the underworld since he rules in the underworld and not up in Olympus so he is not considered an Olympian. There are many more minor gods and goddesses such as Persephone who is the god of spring, daughter of Demeter and wife of hades. Other than gods in Greek mythology you had mortals who has gotten involved with the gods and some upset them such as Arachne who challenged Athena at a weaving contest since she claimed that she was better than Athena at weaving. According to “Greek Heroes.”, There are Greek Heroes too such as Achilles who was the son of mortal king Peleus and nymph Thetis. He was the bravest out of all soldiers and the greatest warrior in the army of Agamemnon during the trojan war. If you wondering who a nymph Is? deity who has natural features like there are sea nymphs which is what Thetis is, spring nymphs, and river nymphs. All these topics that I talked about are very important contributions since they influenced our modern life in such ways such as brands that we all know now and even modern symbols that we know of. Even some names of people have been inspired by important figures in Greek mythology. Greek mythology even made an impact on the romans back then and inspiring them and because of that Rome has very similar gods as Greece did at the time.
