Laboratory Tests
Hemarthrosis (bleeding into joint) is the main manifestation of the disease. Common sites include the elbows, shoulders, hips, knees, and ankle joints.
Avoid strenuous activity Emphasize avoidance of aspirin and aspirin-containing compounds
Diagnostic Procedures
. CBC will reveal a normal plate count.
DNA testing for hemophilia A will detect carriers of the disease Amniocentesis will diagnose hemophilia prenatally.
PATIENT-CENTERED CARE
Nursing Care 1.Assess the cause of bleeding 2.Assess skin color, hematoma, cyanosis 3.Collaboration in the provision of adequate IVFD 4.Collaboration in the provision of blood transfusion 5.Give the deficient clotting factor or plasma, as ordered. 6.Apply cold compress or ice bags and raise the injured part. 7.To prevent recurrence of bleeding, restrict activity for 48 hours after bleeding is under control. 8.Control pain with an analgesics, as ordered. 9.Monitor output and income 10.Monitor vital signs

Client Education 1.Provide emotional support, and listen to the patient’s fear’s and concerns. 2.Tell the patient to avoid heavy lifting and using power tools because they risk of injury that can result in serious bleeding problem. 3.Advise the patient to notify the doctor immediately after even a minor injury 4.Teach the patient the importance of protecting his veins fo lifelong therapy.
