Description

How do I feel overall going into week 7? Well, overall, I feel like there’s still a lot I’m not understanding. Up until this class I thought I was pretty good at coding ICD 10 CPT and ICD 10 CM. However, I’m realizing I am not as good as I thought. I wish I had more time to do case studies, I think it would be better to start case studies sooner and for a longer time. “ only” diagnoses or procedures is a lot different then coding actual case studies. Do you feel like you are using the resources available to you to the best of your ability? I have used the resources that are available to me many of times. However, the tutoring was really not much help, it actually confused me more. The lady that I had was no help, even after sending her screenshots of the questions and the answer choices. She was trying to tell me the answers were not even in my choice of answers. I’m not sure what was up with her, but she just confused me more. Also, I would have liked to have attended the homework huddles however it wasn’t a good time for me because I have church on Wednesday nights. So, all I could do is just email for help which is frustrating because I have to wait hours for answers to my emails. Which some of the answers didn’t even help it just led to more confusion and questions. What areas are you most comfortable with? I would have to say my most comfortable areas in ICD 10 CPT would be any section other than Cardiovascular. For some reason that section is really confusing to me. In ICD 10 CM, I’d say my most comfortable area would be external cause of morbidity, I like how there’s a code for just about any and every way you could possibly be injured. I find HCPCS pretty easy as well, there hasn’t been anything in it that has confused me. It seems pretty straightforward. What are of coding are you most uncomfortable in? As I mentioned before, in ICD 10 CPT and ICD 10 CM, I find the Cardiovascular section really confusing. I’m not sure why but that is most definitely going to be what I will need to practice and study the most. I watch a lot of Dr. Lisa Campbell’s YouTube videos on that subject and anyone else’s I think that might could help me get better understanding. I know it is something I will just have to learn with time and practice. How prepared are you for the final exam? Well, I thought I was very prepared for the final exam until we started coding scenarios. Lol. I am comfortable in coding a diagnosis or procedures; it’s having to add in all the fine details that makes it tricky. I will definitely be studying as much as I can this week. But this week I will be traveling to Tennessee to visit my mother who was just put into hospice and my sister is flying in from Idaho, which I haven’t seen her in over 10 years. However, I’ll find the time to study as much as I can. Good luck to everyone on the final exam and cheers to another semester down....
