Homeless people Today, there are more than 500 000 homeless people in the United States, according to a study. These people are living in the street, often without food. They have to be strong, because they don’t know what the day will bring. It’s a real struggle for them finding a job, have an access to healthcare and basic housing. Their life is uncertain. In this text I am going to write about what it is like being homeless and what I feel society could do to help these people. Also, I am going to discuss what the homeless themselves might do to improve their situation. Being homeless is painful, lonely, depressing, exhausting and traumatic. Therefore, is it hard for many to control their emotions. Some of them can be mean, cruel and hurtful against you. The secret is that many of them are weak. They are experiencing rude eyesight’s and discrimination from passers-by. Homeless people are often sick because they must withstand all kinds of weather with bad clothes and no food. Their personal hygiene is also often bad. People who lives in the street, are often lonely. Maybe their family rejected them and their friends won’t have contact anymore. Whatever it is, we have to treat them with respect. It means more than you can imagine for them. It’s not always their fault that they are living on the street. Many have tried to go out of the situation, but it’s hard because they have been through hard times. Maybe they lost their job, gone trough a divorce or got kicked out of the house. Unfortunately, people who do drugs, often ends up homeless on the street. I think that society could do more to help these people. They can arrange free meetings where the homeless people could talk together and be social. The homeless people deserve at least to have a place where they can shower and wash their clothes. We don’t have to give them money. Sometimes donating food, clothes and blankets are much better for them. I mean that if the society educate themselves and others about homelessness, they can understand more and therefore get a different humanity. There are also things that the homeless themselves might do to improve their situation, but it depends on the person. The solution varies because people have diverse problems. Some of the homeless people suffer with different addictions for example with drugs and alcohol. So, people who suffer with that, have to stop it.

Then they will be a step closer to a better life. Many of the homeless people have no rights at the hospital because it comes with the job. I mean that if they try to get educated, get help finding a job and housing, they might get sickness insurance eventually. If they won’t try and like being homeless, then they should be that. In this text, I have written about what it is like being homeless and what I feel society could do to help these people. I have also discussed what the homeless themselves might do to improve their situation. To summarize, I mean that if the society and the homeless people could cooperate more, things will be better. In my opinion, I can convey that I feel very sad and helpless when I walk by people who are begging for money. Anyway, I am always trying to smile and stay positive....
