INTRODUCTION Practice makes one perfect.  Practice, practice, practice.  Good communication.  Overcome stage fear/fright.  Observe and listen.  Afraid of being judged, making a mistake, not measuring up.  Power of spoken word. 

CONTENTS Whether consistent with time and purpose.  With reference to legal and regulatory issues raised.  Relevant.  Useful.  Significant.  Do your research. 

QUALITY Quality of observation, analysis, reasoning and recommendations.  Whether clearly developed and brought out.  Positive attitude and beliefs.  Be confident. 

VOICE - I       

Clarity in voice. Inflection or monotone. Put feeling into what you are saying – sounding excited, motivated or thrilled. Volume – Railway Track formula. Relaxed tone – upper body, shoulders, neck and abdominal muscles. Spoken language. Overall eye-contacts – Z formula.

VOICE - II Gaps and not stressed or pressured.  Smile.  Friendly tone.  Demeanor.  Mannerism.  Be confident.  Congruence/harmony/unity. 

TIMING Sequencing.  Timing of presentation.  Well-judged.  Well-paced. 

EFFECT Overall effect of presentation.  Whether clear, engaging and interesting.  Reading from a script is boring. 

QUESTIONS Handling of questions.  Feedbacks.  Whether competently handled.  Defend but don’t be defensive.  Ask questions to improve interaction. 

OBSERVE Mirror.  Video recording.  Audio recording.  Watch how you speak – face, eyes, mouth, lips, teeth, tongue, nose, hands, shoulders, legs.  Listen how you sound. 

LANGUAGE No big technical words.  No sarcasm/insinuation/discriminatory language. 

STYLE Be yourself.  Speak on matters you want to know and hear as if you are the audience.  Good body language – no arms crossed or shoulders hunched.  Release your tension. How? 

TECHNIQUE Do not get your audience bored.  Keep sentences short and simple.  Give the information and do not make audience hunt for it. 

PROOFREAD Fix it.  Grammar.  Spelling.  Standards – Australian/British/American. 

ROLE MODEL Do you have one?  Observe and listen.  Anyone whom you can’t stand?  Make sure you don’t have that quality.  Have a conclusion.  Writers write and speakers speak. 
