There is a blue square in the top left-hand corner that displays 50 five-point white stars.

3. What are the elements of the artifact that you believe are most important to how you experience it? Does the choice of medium impact your experience? The elements of the American flag that I feel are most important to how I experience it is the colors. The colors each represent a particular meaning to our nation. For example, red represents hardiness and valor. The choice of medium does impact my experience because I now have more knowledge and appreciation for our American Flag.

4. State your opinion on what you believe is the purpose of this artifact and the success of the creator in achieving the purpose. I believe the purpose of my artifact is to represent a nation united as one. The reasoning behind the colors honestly makes me appreciate our freedom so much more than I already did. I believe with the meaning behind what the flag stands for the creator did achieve their purpose as our nation proudly displays our flag, to exhibit feelings of patriotisms, nationalism, and unity.

5. Discuss how the artifact reflects the culture (or context) in which it exists. Be sure to address what aspects of culture have relevance for this artifact: politics, history, religion, social perceptions, technology, media, education, and so on. In other words, how do the artifact and its culture interrelate? The American Flag reflects its culture in multiple ways. Many individuals respect the American Flag almost as if it were a religion. The American Flag represents freedom, patriotism, and independence for all Americans. In the history aspect of reflecting American culture the American flag represents in such ways; the stripes represent 13 colonies and the stars represent the 50 states of the Union. The colors of the flag are symbolic, red symbolizes hardiness and valor, white symbolizes purity and innocence, and blue represents vigilance, perseverance, and justice....
