Leadership 200+ definitions proposed(1900-1990) ⁃ Know it when you see it ⁃ Love ⁃ Happiness ⁃ Peace ⁃ Democracy ⁃ Power Define leadership in your own words -Leadership is the skill or knowledge to take charge of any situation or circumstance and professionally improve or provide proper help. A leader usually overlooks a group of people and is some one that others look up to. Textbook approach -Leadership is a process whereby an individual influences a group of individuals to achieve a common goal (Components- groups, goals, influence, process) The Natural Born Leader Leaders aren’t just born they are made. And they are made just like anything else, through hard work. And that’s the price we’ll have to pay to achieve that goal or any goal. -Vince Lombardi Is that really the leader? ⁃ Assigned leadership - job role, or other designated position - CEO, president, pastor, shift leader, manager, etc. -Emergent - the natural born factor? - representative of the group?
