School of Business Learning Team Charter 1 for 300-400-level courses School of Business - Version 1.0

Learning Team Charter – ECO/365 Team E Overview A learning team is defined as a group of individuals who work to accomplish mutual goals and output (University of Phoenix, 2014). Throughout your academic journey, you will have an opportunity to engage in learning that will support you in developing skills associated with the University Learning Goals of collaboration, communication, critical thinking and problem solving, information utilization, and competence and professional values. Learning teams involve group participation and discussions; however, the outcome is for the team to submit one deliverable in which every member of the team contributes. While a grade is awarded to each team member, not all team members receive the same grade as grades are awarded based upon the contributions of the team member. Your faculty member will assign learning teams as students will work together to submit Learning Team assignment(s). Reference University of Phoenix (2014). Learning team toolkit: Team basics. Learning Team Charter Overview In this course, your team will work together to complete a few assignments. This chartering assignment is designed to help you apply your project management skills to understand the scope of your project, then break the project into goals, tasks, responsibilities, resources, and milestones. You will notice that this chartering process goes beyond your standard University of Phoenix Charter by helping your team create a project plan for team success by providing you with opportunities to define your deliverables, recognize the connections between the deliverables and other classroom activities, determine your timelines and milestones, identify each team member's expected contribution, and answer questions that lay the foundation for building your projects. Putting "I" in "Team" Important to note is the section for defining learning team expectations related to participation, collaboration, communication, team contributions, assignment deadlines, and other considerations. Please take the time to discuss and document how your team will address each area and any challenges that may arise. It is important to understand that we are "Putting 'I' in 'Team'". In short, we will recognize and reward individuals according to their contributions to team output, not according to their team membership. This means that individual grades may be different from the team grade depending on each individual's contribution to each team deliverable. Learning Team Expectations Establish team expectations by completing the table below. Determine as a group, how you will address the ground rules for engagement. Each team member should contribute to a discussion leading to consensus around team expectations. Ground Rules for Engagement

Learning Team Response

Participation How often should team members meet to discuss an assignment deliverable?

Team members should check in the first part of the week, and clarify their part of the assignment and contribute to the discussion.

Collaboration How will we work with others to achieve our assignment goals and work through conflict?

We will communicate via the team thread in class and email members as necessary. We will take all steps to reach out to members who are not participating to include everyone. We will agree upon deadlines, and work together to meet them. Classroom thread-we will attach each portion of our participation to the assignment in a timely manner (and note which version it is). We will only reach out to private email if main classroom contact is not working. We will try to avoid personal phone calls as well unless requested by individual.

Communication What modes of communication will we use? Where will we communicate?

Team contributions What are the expectations for equitable contributions from each team member?

Each member should volunteer to handle at least one section of each assignment. And each member should contribute to the team charter and week 4 assignment.

Steps the Team Will Take to Address Unmet Team Expectations

If a team member has not offered to complete a section of the assignment then the team lead for the week will contact them and assign them work for the week If no contact has been made by the 3rd attempt and their portion of the work is to be completed by another team member, the professor should be notified and allow them to act accordingly in regards to grading It is important to check in early and expect to start the assignment by Thursday of the school week with a due date of Sunday night so the submitter has adequate time to check the final product before submission. Each member needs time to do their portion and attach to the thread. There is not a way to force someone to contribute to a team project. Sufficient attempts to communicate and include team members will have to serve as a means of mitigating inactivity in the
