Lesson Plan: Word Processing Assessment Grade Level: 6-8 (Mainstreamed special needs Gen. Ed CC students) Accommodations: Special needs students will be paired with peers if their IEP calls for curriculum accommodations. Concept: Introduce the lesson for pre assessment of student knowledge through a Microsoft word journal entry. Purpose of lesson: Making connections and building on current knowledge. General Goals: Support of deeper learning and advancing skills and thinking Specific Objectives: Will communicate information & ideas effectively about lesson, and develop a coherent understanding of the lesson. Required Materials: Computer Lab & Projector Introduction: Good morning class. Please take a seat at your assigned computer. Today we will be completing a word processing assignment through Microsoft word. I will be walking you all through this lesson through a power point presentation step-by step to become familiar with the program. Lesson Plan Procedures: 1. Students, please open up a blank Microsoft word doc that is located on your computer desktop. 2. Everyone will now add a header to the top of their page. Next, you will right-align your heading.

3. Now we will put a title underneath the heading ___ “Word Processing Assessment” 4. You will now center the title, font comic sans, font size 14, bold. 5. Now class lets all reflect and take a moment to ensure we all are on the same pace, and this is the time to ask questions if necessary. 6. We will now resume our word processing assignment. Please type two paragraphs about yourself, font size 12, Times New Roman. 7. Class, please change the second paragraph to font size 16 and papyrus 8. Now add bullets with 1. Your daily activities, 2. What you like to read and 3. Who you enjoy spending your time with. 9. You will need to add “The End” as WordArt at the bottom of the page, and select a border to add to your document. 10. We are nearing the conclusion of our word processing class lesson. Last, everyone will add a picture and have the text wrap around the clipart. Finally, save your document to your class file. Closure: Students will discuss and explain the process of MS Word processor. Now, Lets discuss what you thought of MS Word, and how this program made it easy for you to complete this class assignment. Assessment Objective: Critical thinking, problem solving and decision making: Students use critical thinking skills to navigate through Microsoft word, and make informed decisions using the appropriate digital tools while completing their word processing assessment....
