I felt this portion of the education was lacking and I would make sure to have a print out or copy of the hospital policy with me to anwe any patient questions. Identify safety hazards in Kim Johnson’s patient care situation. The main safety concern for Kim Johnson was the risk for infection. During a straight catheter procedure it is extremely important to take your time and maintain sterile technique. Identify potential complications from using improper sterile technique during intermittent catheterization. How would you correct the nurse’s actions specific to the contamination of the sterile field? During the simulation the nurse accidentally touched the patient's leg with her glove. It is important that the nurse recognizes thi and starts the procedure over again in order to avoid any risk of contamination and infection.
