Description

MAA Part 2 Part 2 will concentrate on how your song (same song that you wrote about in MAA 1) relates to the material covered in our first unit. Use the three bolded terms in your answers. Include the rubric on this page in your document. LINK TO SONG: 1. Name your song, and describe why the song has a high aesthetic value to you. _ “Born This Way” – Lady Gaga. _ Because this song belongs to pop music as one of my favorites genres. Also, her voice is clearly and fascinating which can transmit the message to all the listeners all over the world about “Being yourself” based on political and social beliefs in daily life. 2. Describe why the song may not have a high aesthetic values to others. _ In my opinion, I think other people don’t have a high aesthetic values to this song because it’s too loud for them, especially the elders. Besides, many parents that have kids will not like it either because Lady Gaga has a weird style about her makeup, her appearance, etc. This thing lead the children easily imitate even how aesthetic her song is. 3. Does the song use word painting? If so, give a specific example. If not, describe something else expressed through the lyrics or music that affects you and creates a special effect or meaning. _ Yes, it does. In the lyric: “Don’t be a drag, just be a queen”, pitch of music goes very fast and kind of low. Eventually, it can tell us either the value of being ourself or have a self confident instead of living with different identities and holding it inside ourself every single day. 4. Describe the timbre of the singer’s voice or of a specific instrumental effect and how it adds to the whole song or piece or why you like it. Simply describing the timbre as “high” or “low” or “soft or “loud” is not enough. Get creative! Raspy, crackly, rough, smooth, dark, light, etc. _ I think the timbre of Lady Gaga’s voice is very high and wonderful with the combination of pop and electronic. Due to the amazing melody, it makes me want to replay again and again. Additionally, it gives me more motivations to overcome the difficulties in life throughout the message. _ Moreover, the timbre of this song are upbeat, sympathized, energetic.
