PURPOSE OF MEDICATION
Expected Pharmacological Action Silver sulfadiazine produces bactericidal effect on the cell membrane and cell wall.
Therapeutic Use adjunct for the prevention and treatment of wound sepsis in burns

pain, burning, itching, fever, sore throat, yellowing of skin or eyes, blood in urine, rash
This medication is to be administered as a cream to be applied once or twice a day. Clean burned area and removed dead skin before applying.
Contraindications/Precautions Do not use in infants less than 2 months of age, if allergic to sulfa drugs, if have kidney or liver disease, if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
Nursing Interventions Assess size, depth, color, drainage of wound any new or increased skin reactions at the site of application, for signs of leukopenia.
Interactions This drug may inactivate topical proteolytic enzymes
