Mental Health Case: George Palo Guided Reflection Questions Opening Questions How did the simulated experience of George Palo’s case make you feel? It made me feel sad for him. But he is really relatable and I have people in my community that are just like Mr. Palo. Talk about what went well in the scenario. I was surprised that he allowed us to take his hunting gun without a fight. He loved hunting and he would go and do that with hus dog. Reflecting on George Palo’s case, were there any actions you would do differently? If so, what were these actions and why? I can imagine he was really annoyed at all the questions but I needed him to answer so I could complete my assessment. Scenario Analysis Questions* PCC/S What priority problem(s) did you identify for George Palo? Geroge was clinically depressed. He scores a 12/15 on his Geriatric Depression Scale. His recent weight loss ad loss of appetite is related to what heis experiencing. PCC/I Discuss the benefits of pet therapy for individuals with minor neurocognitive decline and how it could benefit George Palo. Improving his mood, lessening his frustration, companionship, improves his nutrition, improces his physical activity. T&C

Loss Support groups, Primary care physician and community groups Concluding Questions Describe how you would apply the knowledge and skills that you obtained in George Palo’s case to an actual patient care situation. I would approacte it by understanding that in a real life situation I need to really understand the level of frustration and despair someone that has been through what Mr. Palo has been through would really be feeling. He may not be a real person but these situations are real life and you should have an extra patience for people like that.
