Through the changes and pains, it teaches us a lesson to learn more. 2. Define development in your own words. Answer: Development is in order. It is an expansion or being mature in all aspects. It is also a progress in mind set and physical appearance. It is changes in individual’s nature. 3. State the 5 major principles of human development from a life-span perspective. Give at least one application of each principle in the teaching-learning process. Answer: PROXIMODISTAL- The middle is the first to develop and movement extends outwards from there. An example of such a pattern is the early development of muscular control of the trunk and arms relative to the hands and fingers. CEPHALOCAUDAL- This can be seen in human fetuses where the head is the first body part formed. Once the body is formed the hands develop before feet. BIOLOGICAL- They will gain height and weight. They will experience hormonal changes when they reach the period of puberty, and cardiovascular decline as they approach late adulthood COGNITIVE- Processes involve changes in the individual’s thought, intelligence, and language. PROXIMODISTAL

B. How do you apply your knowledge of cephalocaudal and proximodistal patterns in your teaching? Cephalocaudal development describes the general growth pattern of organisms to develop areas near the main neural area (typically the head) earlier than areas of the body that are more distant. Proximodistal development is the progression of motor development radiating from the center of an organisms to the periphery. The classic example is a child learning to move her shoulders before learning to control fine finger movement. 5. In the light of researches of human development, which of the two approaches is closer to the truth traditional or lifespan? Why? Answer: I think between the two approaches (traditional and lifespan), lifespan approach is much

closer to the truth because it states that human development is a lifelong process....
