Music Autobiography Cailyn Thomson I am Cailyn Thomson I will be 19 on June 22nd. I have played the Violin, Piano, I sing and briefly played the flute. I have been playing some these instruments since I have been in 1st grade. In my family playing an instrument is not so much of a question of if you do so but which one? Everyone in my family has played an instrument at some point in their lives. My mom played the flute for over 30 years and my dad has played the trumpet, sousaphone, flute etc.. throughout elementary school through high school. I started playing the piano when I was in 1st grade with my twin sister Sarah and continued until college and still do occasionally. I played the flute for one year in 5th grade and then proceeded to drop because every single girl in my school started with that instrument. In 6th grade through 9th grade I played the violin I advanced orchestra and competed four years in a row at Disneyland. I have been a singer since I was in pre school in musical theater but I got more serious in about 3rd grade when I was doing mainstage musicals and I took singing lessons from 7th grade and beyond. In orchestra I would play some pop music because our director would like to spice up the routine as well as some songs from famous movies especially if it was for our Disney competition. As well as occasionally having classical music being put into our routines. For my private violin lessons we focused on the more classical genre to be able to help the more technical aspects of the violin versus the musicality of the Disney songs. Finally my interest in musical genres is mostly musical theater and pop songs and Disney songs. I listen to these on a casual basis such as when I workout or go on a walk and have

learned to play these songs on the piano, violin and singing. My cultural background is Caucasian female that is autistic so I tend to get stuck in the same genre over and over because it is what I am used to and comfortable with....
