Activity 4 Explain the following question:

1. Phisycal or Mental health? What is more important? Ensuring, curing ang protecting our physical health or protecting and ensuring mental and emotional health. And why?

Mental health and Physical health are closely interrelated. The former pertains to your overall psychological well-being. It includes the way you feel about yourself and your ability to manage and deal with difficulties. While the latter refers to the external and internal physique that must be taken care of for optimal health and functioning to keep your body in top condition. Physical health can usually be attended by other people, while mental health is usually a work alone process. It is our own battle with ourselves. From my standpoint, mental health is more essential and must be put at the top of your priority list. It plays a major role in your ability to maintain good physical health. While the physical health provides more visible and evident signs to alert us what must be addressed, mental health does not provide signs and symptoms as much as the physical health does. There are may be signs but you have to pay attention and be aware of what they are, which oftentimes hard to determine. The reality nowadays is that if you don’t attend to your mental health and emotional needs, your quality of life suffers and as well as your physical health. For these, people in need should try to reach out and ask for support. Afterall, it is okay to not be okay.

2. The purpose of emergency preparedness? Is it okay to apply those safety, first aid and disaster preparedness without any training?

Emergency preparedness specifies procedures for handling sudden or unexpected situations. It is the steps we take to make sure we are safe before, during, and after an emergency or natual disaster and even man-made disasters. In my own opinion, it is better to have a training to avoid panic and rush which might cause harm due to the impulsive decisions it bring. However, if there is a need for survival it is okay to apply what you know or otherwise it might cost you life. The training for safety, first aid and disaster preparedness intends to give you the tools you need, to keep yourself and your loved ones safe. It starts with understanding the health and safety risks associated with

each type of disaster, and the critical first aid that can make the differencce between life and death in the aftermath.

3. Can a person be sued by doing first aid?

According to the Good Samaritan Act of 2017 proposed by Senator Gordon, a person cannot be sued by doing first aid under the said Act, to enourage the involvement of the people in public, social and civic affairs to protect and promote the right to health of the people and instill health consciousness among them. This aims to promote the welfare of the nation, the natural Filipino trait of malasakit through a proper legislation that encourage volunteerism.

4. Can a person give first aid if he/she has knowledge about it, but dit not undergo any trainings?

Yes. This will be in connection to the above mentioned Act that encourages the involvement of the people in public in giving first aid during emergency or situation requiring immediate attention and remedial action involving a sudden, unexpected, and impending threat to life, health, or safety of a person....
