Throughout the reading “Case Study: The Nez Perce Nation”, by Kate A. Berry, Zoltan Grossman, and L. Homana Pawiki, pages 63-66, readers learn about one of the most powerful tribes at the time the Nez Perce. The Nez Perce was a large tribe who resided in the areas of Oregon, Idaho, and Washington. The tribe was known for the numerous herds of cattle and horses it had therefore it became well known. Eventually the Nez Perce faced hard times when they were forced to give up their land. The government wanted to remove them from the land and send them to reservations. This is very similar to the Removal Era which occurred in the early part of the nineteenth century when white settlers where emigrating into territory which was heavily occupied by many different things thank you so much that it doesn't wow make sense you know how i feel about that. Native Americans. They thought the Native Americans had been there to long and should have to move further westward. This became a nation policy and treaties were made with many tribes to give up their land and move. When the Nez Perce however were told to move the people got angry and this resulted in several battles against the U.S. The Nez Perce was however defeated and sent to different and far away lands where ultimately the tribe became poor. After a few years the Nez Perce started to fight for their rights in a court of law and continuously got stronger and regained their power and some of the land. This is what many Native American tribes did during the Self Determination Era. The tribes were tired of getting pushed around

and told what to do so they decided to regain control. Many tribes re-established self government and controlled their own affairs. As the Nez Perce became bigger and more powerful again things changed. The Nez Perce people were invited back to the land they had priorly been kicked out of. They were there to teach non-indians about their culture and it created a sort of tourist attraction and brought in a lot of money. I think that the Nez Perce people had a very difficult time and I don't think it’s right what the government did to them. That was their land and they shouldn't have had to move against their will. I have been on two reservations before and both were actually very nice. I think reservations now a days are okay but back then I don't think they should have had to move if they didn't want to. Hey I know I am so excited and I cant wait like...
