NonViolent Crisis Intervention (NVCI) CPI-Crisis Prevention Institute The full NVCI course requires a minimum of 8 hours of training for full certification. The course content consists of… 1. Crisis Development Model 2. Non Verbal Behavior 3. ParaVerbal Communication 4. Verbal Intervention 5. Precipitating Factors/Rational Detachment/Integrated Experience 6. Staff Fear and Anxiety 7. Personal Safety Techniques 8. Physical Crisis Intervention & Team Intervention 9. Postvention Priority Trainings (8 hr. minimum) AASD-Certify every 3 years, with a refresher course approximately every 18 months (CPI recommends certification every 2 years with refresher every 12 months) Eight hour training for priority staff members; covers all of the course content results in a full NVCI certification. - Priority staff members include SEBD, EBD, Autism, and staff working with an IEP driven need for intervention. - Training counts towards staff development or district points. (6 hr.) Training Option - Training counts towards staff development or district points. -Appropriate training for building-wide staff development -6 hour training includes the entire course except “Physical Crisis Intervention & Team Intervention (restraints and controls)” -Will also fulfill requirements of a refresher course Refresher Training (3 hr. minimum) -Used to review and expand upon the NVCI training concepts -6 hr. training can count as a refresher - Training counts towards staff development or district points.
