5

Empire State Building

Which Empire State movies have you watched already? And what were they about (in your own words, one sentence per movie)? I'm not really a fan of movies, but I've seen these two:

 

6

The Flatiron Building

America’s got talent: it is an American talent show, where you can show off your own talent. Safety First: it a comic fiction series, the series is about the four friends Luc, Dirk, Simon and Ingrid who founded their own security company after they were fired from their previous employer.

Name 3 secrets of the Flatiron building that you find special or that strike you. 1) The building has 750 radiators and 600 air-conditioning units 2) The Original Building Didn't Have Female Bathrooms 3) It Will Be a Luxury Hotel

Hellmann

What and who is Hellmann? In 1903 Richard Hellmann emigrated from Prussia, to New York City. He opened his own delicatessen at Columbus Avenue, where he developed his first ready-made mayonnaise, dished-out in small amounts to customers. It became so popular that he began selling it in bulk to other stores, constantly improving the recipe to make it avoid spoilage longer. How can we link him to the American Dream? Hellman emigrated to New York and started from nothing, but through hard work, he became very successful. This is according to the American Dream, because people have the freedom to do as they please and can achieve what they want if they work hard for it.

I want to see whether or not you understand the concept. Pre-foreclosure refers to the legal situation a property is in during the early stages of being repossessed. Reaching pre-foreclosure status begins when the lender files a default notice on the property, which informs the property owner that the lender will pursue legal action toward foreclosure if the debt isn't paid.

15 The Subway

What makes taking the NYC subway so much more intricate than taking the London or Parisian subway? Looking at the map, you will see the different lines in different colors and numbers. New Yorker don't call the train lines by their colors. Make sure you are choosing a subway line that you need by letter or number because even thought the blue line shows line A,C and E, these train routes eventually split up and you may end up somewhere completely different than where you're intended to go. You will notice that some stops have black dots and others have white dots. Black dots are local stations and the only trains that stop here are trains that make every stop on the line. White dots are express stations and all trains on a line stop here. Another important thing you have to figure out is whether or not you're going uptown

(Nourth) or downtown (South). You have to choose the correct platform. There are a lot of elements you have to pay attention to. 16 Union Square Buildings

Would you want to live in or around Union Square? Why (not)? Motivate your answer by means of what is said in the video. I'd really like to live there. Union Square is always buzzing, there is always something going on. It's a blend of everything. So it is never boring. There is a 15.000 square foot playground that has been an attraction for families from all five boroughs. Children think it's a very nice place. If the young people want to go out in the evening, there is a lot of young staff. Union Square is a great area for them. It is a safe place to go out, and that’s what I like and need. It’s a very beautiful place. You can find a lot of green spaces and beautiful architectural buildings. The transportation is also very great. All of the subway lines come here and if they don’t, you can take the El which goes across town. That’s a positive thing for me. There are also some green markets where you get to socialize, you see your friends there… So I think that Union Square is a very nice place to live. The disadvantage is that the costs of the houses are constantly increasing. The woman said: what I paid now versus what I paid when I moved here 10 years ago is more than double for less space.

17 Wall Street

What struck you in the video about Wall Street? The New York stock exchange is a very large building with a big American flag on it. The building has a beautiful architecture. On the video you see a lot of cafes and restaurants. You also see tall buildings.
