 Online Dating  Today, individuals rely on applications or websites as a form of communication to meet people of interest  Online dating is one of the many ways that people develop relationships nowadays

 Decision Making  Most dating apps allow users to make their own decisions  Psychology says when an individual is given many choices that they tend to struggle to make a decision  A majority of people who use dating apps or websites use side-by-side comparisons which makes decisions not as successful as they could be  Decisions can be so difficult that an individual struggles with the concept as to whether or not they should be single or seeking a relationship

 The College Lifestyle

 Today, the majority of online dating apps/website users are college students  Students tend to settle for online dating sites and apps because of their busy lifestyles

 The concept of meeting someone in person right from the start has become avoided

 The Best College Online Dating Sites  The top five online dating websites for



college students are Date My School, Campus Hook, University Love Connection, Student Love and College Passions The reasons for these sites being the best vary depending on what the website allows them to do whether it’s searching for people by school, viewing a message board for social events to attend or simply talking to students in a chat room or on a blog.

 College Students Using Dating Apps  91% of college students today use online dating apps for more than just a casual hook up  According to Global Dating Insights the most used app is OKCupid followed by Tinder, Bumble and Zoosk.  37% of men who use dating apps think that using the apps is considered cheating  27% of users report being harassed on dating apps

 4% of users prefer to use apps to meet potential dates  1 in 3 women say “No Way” to sex on the first date while the same is true for 1 in 10 men  61.4% of people use dating apps for entertainment  30.5% of people use dating apps with love being their main focus  18.7% of people use dating apps only for hook-ups  16.6% of people use dating apps with the hope to meet someone by chance  11.2% of people use dating apps with the intent to receive nude photographs from other profiles  52.40% of users are male while 47.60% are female

 Our Digital World  In 2014, adults ages 18-24 used onlinedating sites and apps at an average rate of 10%  Today that rate has nearly tripled  We turn to technology for almost everything  Digital technology has transformed the way in which we socialize and conduct ourselves

 Apps vs. Websites  Dating apps still have yet to take over the internet  7 in 10 tinder users say they visited an online dating website while using a dating app  Nearly 25% of tinder users pay for an online dating subscription

 Attitude  59% of U.S. Adults agree that online dating is a good way to meet people  23% of U.S. Adults agree that people who use online dating sites are desperate

 Issues  A majority of people are only looking to have sex  Many profiles contain false information  People are downright judgmental  It is very easy to come across a scam

 Rewards  People no long have to stress over meeting someone in a public place for the first time  People can search the world  People who travel frequently still have a chance at meeting someone  There is no commitments  It’s all up to you

 Risks

 People become too casual, too fast  Conversations have the risk of never materializing  People cannot believe everything they read
