Organizing data ● Tables and figures Characteristics to look for ● Center: one number to represent all data ● Variation: differences in data ● Distribution: shape of data ○ Bell curve is normal distribution ● Outliers: data far away from everything else Tables and figures ● Frequency distributions (table) ○ Categories (classes) must be evenly spaced and cannot overlap ■ Lowest number in a class is the lower class limit ■ Highest is the upper class limit ■ Class width is difference between successive lower or upper limits ○ Every piece of data must fall into only one class Class
