Outline of Research Proposal

Drug Use Among Teens I-

Introduction This research proposal outline is basically to show how the research proposal will be written and what it will cover. What the research proposal will be is somewhat of a paper that will give one more knowledge about the drug use among teens. There will be specific questions that will be asked in order to gather more data regarding this issue that seems to be happening in the United States as well as other countries. This research proposal will help in trying to determine what is causing the drug use to be running the way that it is among our teens these days.

Brief Statement of Purpose The purpose of this study will be in order to find out what is causing all of the drug use among the teens on if it is just lack of education or peer pressure that may be the cause.

The Rational for Wanting to Conduct the Study There needs to be more information that can be gathered regarding teens and the drug use that seems to be happening. This seems to be rather popular in today’s society and there has to be reason for it. If there was more information and data collected on certain things then it would be known how to try and prevent it.

Hypothesis and Research Questions The teen drug use in our society seems to have grown by leaps and bounds and if it can be prevented at an early age then it would be easier to get it under control.

How educated our the participants on drug use and what the effects can be for them later on in life?

2. What environment have they grown up in or been exposed to? 3. Would more education help in preventing it from starting? 4. Is there a lot of peer pressure that is going on in today’s society for them to start in the first place? 5. If there is peer pressure how would you be able to cope with it? V.

Methods Children that are in the 7th and 8th grade both male and female will be participating in this research study regarding drug us among teenagers. This teens that will be participating will need to be selected randomly so that they will not all be coming from the same neighborhood and can be from all walks of life. They will be from upper class, middle class as well as lower class families. There will be parental consent that will take place prior to this happening and if there are parents that do not wish for their children to participate in this research study then they will not be put in the random selection. The students that are selected will be given a survey with about 10 questions on it to complete and this will be done anonymously so that it will be answered as true as it can be. There also can be some interviews that can be conducted in order to collect more information for analysis for the data. At the end once everything is collected and done then the procedures can take place in order to see what may be causing this to happen.
