Competency Passport replaced by Entrustable Professional activities – Entrustable professional activities (EPA) are units of professional practice or descriptors of work, defined as specific tasks or responsibilities that trainees are entrusted to perform without direct supervision once they have attained sufficient competence. – EPAs are independently executable, observable, and measurable in their process and outcome. – Core EPAs are discrete, essential activities and tasks that all new pharmacy graduates must be able to perform without direct supervision upon entering practice or postgraduate training. – These statements were labeled as “core” to denote that these EPAs are expected of all graduates independent of practice setting. They serve as a baseline, not a ceiling. – Starts in PHAR5718, continue in other following placements https://www.pharmacycouncil.org.au/standards/performance-outcomes_web.pdf The University of Sydney

Example Mr X, a physically active 21 yo male, has just returned from the doctor’s clinic and makes a request to purchase a Ventolin puffer as per his doctor’s advice for “exercise-induced asthma”. He admits that he was distracted by his thoughts on the update on COVID on ABC news and does not remember when or how to use the puffer. After checking the Australian Medicines Handbook (AMH) and under the supervision of your preceptor, you explain to Mr X that he should use 1-2 puffs about 5-15 min before before exercise and demonstrate the correct technique for the use of the metered-dose inhaler. What types of Drug Related Problems and Recommendation are involved in this clinical intervention? The University of Sydney
