Sir Henri Bergson (1859–1941) was one of the most important and influential French philosophers of the late 19th century and early 20th century.

Bergson was born on October 18 in the year 1859, in Paris. He had seven siblings, a Polish Father and an English mother; though both of his parents were originally Jewish.

Bergson was a prodigy throughout his childhood. Bergson was originally trained in the discipline of mathematics, for which he was awarded the p rize of “ Concours General." It later lead to the publication of his great solution to the problem by Pascal in 1877.

that

Bergson’s

most

useful

contribution

to

the philosophical thinking fraternity is his novel concept of multiplicity.

Multiplicity helps to unify in a couple of contradictory features, that is:

• heterogeneity and

• continuity

Along with this concept of multiplicity, Bergson's other revolutionary contributions include the method of intuition, the perception theory and the novel memory system. His unique ideas of believinig in the reative evolutionary process, also found much recognition

highly

appreciated.

His

significant
