Preliminary Essay Outline Thesis Statement: The advantages of joining the melting pot and producing new hybrid society are equality, identity and nationalism. First Body Paragraph Topic sentence: The first advantage of producing a new hybrid society is providing a sense of equality Supporting Point #1: It is about ensuring that every person, irrespective of race, disability, sex or sexual orientation, has an equal opportunity to contribute the most out of their lives and talents. Supporting details – The story “the other family” shows that children of various colours, races and cultures are provided with education. When the little girl was looking around her classroom she noticed that the children around her where of different colours, shapes of noses and also different hair colours. Point #2: Equality is characterized as being equal or equal in consistency, metric, respect or importance. If both men and women are shown to be as smart and capable as each other, this is an indicator of gender equality. Melting pot does support equality and unity between individuals and maintain indifference. Second Body Paragraph Topic sentence: The second pro of creating a new hybrid community is by sharing the same identity. Supporting Point #1: Weather there are racial and geographical differences, a group of individuals that share the same identity and interests show strong linkage. Supporting details – In the story the girl drew a picture of a family that dosen’t show any resemblance to her own actual family, in term of skin, hair and eye colour. The family that she drew was a white family and that’s why the mother reacted and wanted to make the girl understand that their family don’t share the same identity as the family she drew. Point #2: sharing the same identity can cause resentment, because people that lived their entire life in their country and suddenly they have to be in a different county that in particular put their cultural identity second. This point is seen as either advantageous or disadvantageous depending on the person. People that support the melting pot will approve of the point of sharing the same identity, because that indicates to them that they are part of the community. Supporting Point #1: It is an ideology and a movement that advocates the interests of a certain country, in particular with a view to securing and maintaining the sovereignty of the nation over its homeland. Supporting details – For example, an economic nationalism, where one prefers their own products and services over other nations. The campaign made in the USA, where the idea behind it is that materials manufactured in the US are superior to goods made in China (Lozda C. 2019). Point #2: In America, nationalism plays a big role as it helps to clarify attempts to improve national identity and self-determination in their national and international affairs. Concluding Statement: In conclusion joining the melting pot does bring people together by forming a new society where equality, identity and nationalism are very strong advantages.
