Name the three principles/characteristics of sensation and elaborate on one of them. - Threshold- the certain amount of physical energy that we need to produce a sensation. This includes absolute threshold (minimum amount of physical energy needed to cause a sensation). It also includes difference threshold (minimum difference between two stimuli where you can detect that difference). - Bias- sensation is bias because it is based on anatomy - Sensory adaptation: at constant levels at a cellular level, our bodies stop responding bias us physically to new information. 9. What is an example of sensory adaptation from your own life? - When I first walk into my room, I immediately smell my wall plug-in. After a sometime, I no longer smell the scent and I start wondering whether I accidently unplugged the wall plug-in. When I get up to go use the bathroom and I walk back into the room, I can smell the wall plug in again. 10.
