Our society had been continuously rapidly changing especially regarding health and technology making people's custom and lifestyle to change to accustom and adhere to its variousness and competitiveness. Thus, republic acts and senate bills are demanded to change and improve as well to keep up with the inevitable changes we face. Republic Act 5527 or also cited as Philippine Medical Technology Act enacted on 1969 were changed and/or improved from its current practice of medical technology education, enabling its graduates to be highly skilled and globally competitive. Such that the bill seeks and aims to create under the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC), a Board of Medical Technology which will be headed by qualified duly registered medical technologist of good moral character and also create a Technical Panel in Medical Technology Education under the Commission on Higher Education. Furthermore, this bill intends to introduce Certification of Phlebotomists (CPT) and Continuing Medical Technology Education (CMTE). Senate Bill 1891, known as Philippine Medical Technology Act of 2018 is developed to nurture competitiveness and to maintain the set standards of its practice. This bill strives to create a homogeneous Professional Regulatory Board of Medical Technology, update the scope of Medical Technology practice such that molecular and cytogenetic technologies, phlebotomy and teaching, drug testing, training and supervising students in its education program. Also, entry-level Registered Medical Technologists' minimum base pay must be upgrade and ensured that it should not be lower than Salary Grade 15. Lastly, creation of the Continuing Professional Development Council for Medical Technology Education under Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) and Technical Committee for Medical Technology Education under CHED will ensure global competitiveness of the profession and improve the practice of medical technology....
