“Reaction Paper” The movie “Pirates of Silicon Valley” was directed by Martyn Burke. It is about the evolution of computers and making of both Apple Computer and Microsoft which addresses both Steve Jobs at Apple and Bill Gates at Microsoft. The movie depicts the inception of Apple and Microsoft of how both companies got started and influenced the mainstream technology. After watching the Pirates of Silicon Valley, I find the movie great and interesting because it is about the history of computers and information technology. Though there were ethical issues involved as to giving birth to Apple and Microsoft but for me that just made the film more exciting. Piracy had been beneficial to the beginnings of Apple and Microsoft but then, that doesn’t discount the fact that what they have done was wrong. But the story of the movie is all about how the two of the biggest computer companies in the world compete. The evolution of computers paved the way to success for Steve Jobs and Bill Gates. Before being completely successful they have gone through many challenges and they have committed many unethical doings, Apple copy ideas from Xerox and Microsoft steal ideas from Apple, while then moving on to the unique way in which the two men worked with and against one another, before finally concluding why their relationship changed the world. In the beginnings of both companies Apple was reining supremacy and a huge success. Of course, after a huge success came next making a lot of money. Microsoft was also gaining money but not as much as Apple though. Apparently, Microsoft was the underdog but for Bill Gates it was not enough to have an ample amount of money or should I say money was of least importance. He wanted to be on top and be distinguished the same way Steve Jobs and his Apple were given recognition and be a threat rather than be threatened. They create their own company, the Apple Computers only in a garage. There is only just one hindrance, Hewlett Packard has the choice of the first rights on anything that develops but as time goes by, the odds were all favour with Apple because HP belittled and hated Apple's product and Apple's progress continued. Meanwhile Bill Gates formed a company called Microsoft that made software as operating systems. In conclusion, as I react to the movie. A person should be careful on whom he should trust because he will never know who would stab him in the back, so we should always be humble and kind towards others. Overall, we must value and keep in our minds the things that the persons behind these companies ventured and experienced before it became successful and also experiencing failure could be a great opportunity towards success. Working hard and working smart is a key to achieving success....
