Joey Sargent Orem Becomes Italy: An Afternoon Inside Carrabbas

I, like on many afternoon occasions, caught myself searching for a promising restaurant to sit down and have lunch with my buddies. We chose Carrabbas because the location of the restaurant was perfect. The site is very central and close to almost any college student which makes it an easy choice. I don’t enjoy traveling for food and at the same time, I love up-scale restaurants. Carrabbas has that name that helps achieve just what college students like me are looking for: a classy meal that isn’t going to break the bank. We arrived at Carrabbas and fortunately found that it was very easy to find a place to park, as the restaurant is located at the brim of a huge mall parking lot. We walked in and were seated right away because no other customers were in there during our late afternoon appearance. There were many workers twiddling their thumbs being unproductive but I would like to think that they are busy during other hours of the day. Our super sassy and attractive waitress was a perfect fit for the crowd of single men that accompanied me. She helped us figure out which food items we would like best and while they cooked it in the back, Italian bread came out for us with a herb mix in olive oil. The mixture of the two complementary items on the table in one’s mouth called for an acquired taste. If the food had been served to us a little earlier, we probably wouldn’t have eaten all the bread because it really wasn’t that special. For the main dish, I ordered the delicious Pasta Weesie, which consisted of fettuccine noodles, smothered in creamy Alfredo sauce. Tossed on top was the better

half of a dozen large cooked shrimp and what really brought those two together was the hint of lemon zest. There were unsalted scallions, mushrooms, and one other vegetable that were mixed in as well with butter and Romano cheese. There was no dessert to this meal because none of us even finished our main plates. We all had water with a lemon to drink so it wasn’t the beverage that filled us up; the main dish was simply made for a famished soldier. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the freshly made Italian food because it was so rich and filling that none of us even finished our portions. I am sure a customer with a smaller stomach would have loved the taste as much as we did but would most likely not have appreciated as much the quantity of the food, just the quality. The nutritional facts on what we consumed are impressive from a male athlete perspective. The food is loaded with carbs, calories, and protein. As we sat there full as could be, we started talking and probably did so a tad too loud because of our immaturity. Carrabbas is a great place for a more conservative conversation on a lower tone down to a whisper. The lights are dim and it’s quiet in a good way. The walls are dark burgundy colors making it give off more of a royal feel than it ultimately should. It was, in the opinion of many, pretty expensive but well worth it because of how well we were treated and how perfectly fitting the food was....
