INTERPRETATION Mean – Simple or arithmetic average of a range of values or quantities, computed by dividing the total of all values by the number of values. Analysing the table we know that the average stock price is highest of that of Maruti Suzuki and the lowest is that of Yes bank. In comparison of all the banking companies, highest is that of SBI Bank. Median - The "median" is the "middle" value in the list of numbers. To find the median, your numbers have to be listed in numerical order from smallest to largest, so you may have to rewrite your list before you can find the median. Each company has its own middle value. The comparison of the same isn’t feasible. However on the exact same date the highest closing stock price was that of Maruti Suzuki. Mode - The "mode" is the value that occurs most often. If no number in the list is repeated, then there is no mode for the list. By looking at the table we can clearly identify which company has which stock value as the most repeating one. Standard Deviation - The standard deviation is similar to the mean deviation in that here too the deviations are measured from the mean. It is calculated as the square root of variance by determining the variation between each data point relative to the mean. If the data points are further from the mean, there is a higher deviation within the data set; thus, the more spread out the data, the higher the standard deviation. The company which has higher standard deviation is Maruti Suzuki which means the data set of this company is more spread out. Kurtosis - Kurtosis is a statistical measure that is used to describe the distribution or peakedness of frequency distribution. Distributions with large kurtosis exhibit tail data exceeding the tails of the normal distribution. Distributions with low kurtosis exhibit tail data that are generally less extreme than the tails of the normal distribution.

9

In the above table, each company represents negative kurtosis except for the SBI Bank. Skewness - A distribution is said to be 'skewed' when the mean and the median fall at different points in the distribution, and the balance (or centre of gravity) is shifted to one side or the other-to left or right. If one tail is longer than another, the distribution is skewed. A left-skewed distribution has a long left tail. Left-skewed distributions are also called negatively-skewed distributions. That’s because there is a long tail in the negative direction on the number line. The mean is also to the left of the peak. A right-skewed distribution has a long right tail. Right-skewed distributions are also called positive-skew distributions. That’s because there is a long tail in the positive direction on the number line. The mean is also to the right of the peak.

CORRELATION Correlation is a measure of association between two or more variables. When two or more variables very in sympathy so that movement in one tends to be accompanied by corresponding movements in the other variable(s), they are said to be correlated. Correlation can be classified as Positive & Negative, Linear & Non-Linear, Simple Variable & Multiple. If both the variables move in the same direction, we say that there is a positive correlation, On the other hand, if the variables are varying in opposite direction, we say that it is a case of negative correlation. 10

So now basically analysing the table we can easily figure out that there exists positive correlation between HDFC & SBI, AXIS and HDFC, YES BANK & MARUTI SUZUKI, AXIS and SBI. The rests are in negative correlation with each other. Also this is the case of multiple correlation because there are 5 variables which needs to be related with each other.

REGRESSION It refers to the statistical technique of modelling the relationship between two or more variables. In general sense, regression analysis means the estimation or prediction of the unknown value of one variable from the known value(s) of the other v...
